Melville Ponds Campground
This town campground spans 150 acres of land, which is complete with hiking trails, ponds and wooded sites. Just minutes from Newport, Melville Ponds Campground is a great way to enjoy nature without being a long drive from exciting nearby towns and beaches. Campers can also enjoy bird watching and freshwater fishing during their stay here.

Green Animals Topiary Gardens
Set on an estate that is now owned by the Newport Preservation Society, this unique garden offers 80 topiaries in the forms of animals, geometric figures, and designs. In 1905 the gardener and superintendent of the land began creating these topiaries, which his son continued after him until the year 1985. To this day Green Animals is the oldest topiary garden in the United States.

Sandy Point Beach
This naturally shallow beach is a great place for families with young children. Complete with restrooms, changing rooms, and picnic tables, Sandy Point offers everything needed for a day at the beach. Lifeguards are on duty during weekends and certain weeks throughout the summer season.

Glen Farm
This 120 acre public park is divided into six areas offering youth recreation, a special events field, the Brown House, the polo field, a utility field, and the equestrian center. Glen farm is well known for its international polo series and youth soccer tournaments. The equestrian center is family-friendly and offers riding lessons as well as care and board for horses.

Quonset View Farm
Located on Middle Road, Quonset View Farm has been in business for over 100 years. This town staple offers pick-your-own strawberries in the summer, pumpkins in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter.

Greenvale Vineyards
Located along the Sakonnet River, Greenvale Vineyards is just five miles from downtown Newport. Offering daily wine tastings and tours, the owners of the 24 acre vineyard are committed to preserving this beautiful historic land. Greenvale also hosts concerts, book signings, and private events.

Prudence Island
Prudence Island is the third largest island in the Narragansett Bay, and although located off the mainland, it is part of the town of Portsmouth. Take a ferry over and spend a day on this tranquil island, exploring the beaches and lighthouse.
